Advantages of Single-Day Crowns

Traditional crowns typically require two office visits. At your first appointment, Dr. Jeffrey or Dr. Trenton will shape and prepare the tooth for the restoration and then take an impression of your teeth to be sent to a dental lab. Construction of your crown can take a week or longer, and you will need to wear a temporary crown while you are waiting.

With single-day crowns, your dentist can prepare your tooth, construct your crown, and place it in your mouth, all within the span of a couple of hours. The CEREC process is similar to placement of a conventional crown; however, instead of taking an uncomfortable dental impression, they will simply take 3-D pictures of your tooth and allow CEREC’s CAD-CAM technology to generate a proposal for your new restoration. With Dr. Jeffrey or Dr. Trenton Paffenroth’s input and final approval, your all-ceramic crown is milled in the office within minutes. While this is being made, you get a little break – about 45 minutes to read, watch a movie or go do a little shopping. When you come back, the final step will be bonding your perfectly fitting crown to your tooth..

  2. No wearing a temporary crown
